Read-and-respond exercise

Due:  Due Wednesday, February 8, at the start of class

Please read the article "Vision:  A Computational Investigation..." by David Marr  with emphasis on the material on representation and on the three levels of explanation.

Write a short description of the paper,  What are Marr's three levels of explanation? 

Think about your environment, and find something you can explain as an information processing system.  Your example should be more complex than a light-switch, but less complex than a computer.

Write a description of the object, and give an explanation of its behavior using the three levels of explanation given in Marr.

There are lots of other questions that could be asked (some of which may appear on our exams), but this will get us started in discussion Wednesday.
