Read-and-respond exercise

Due:  At the start of class Monday, Jan. 23

Write short descriptions of both the "Imitation Game" and "Turing Test", including in your analysis responses to the following questions:

• What is Turing's thesis?  What is the point he is trying to make?
• What evidence does he bring in support of this thesis?
• In what way can this paper be seen as a response to Descartes?
• What is a "universal computer"?

There are lots of other questions that could be asked (some of which may appear on our exams), but this will get us started in discussion Monday..
