SCXT 350

Exercise set #2

Due:  Friday, Oct. 13 (in class)

The idea of framing problem solving in terms of states and operators seems to most of us to be a bit artificial. It is a useful exercise, then, to be able to start seeing things in this way.

Consider some act of problem-solving that you do. To play the game fairly, pick something that (1) we have not already talked about in class (transportation, for example), and that (2) does not include the word 'search' or any of its synonyms (as, for example, "looking for my keys"). Write up a brief description of the problem and problem-solving procedure, and say

This should not be something artificial, but some bit of problem-solving you do every day.

Please turn in a printed (i.e., from a word processor) response during class on Friday, Oct. 13 (this Friday).
