Disclaimer: I have attempted to be comprehensive in the following, but important items may have been omitted by mistake. If you see such an omission, please let me know, but you are responsible for all of the lecture material to date.

• Final Exam: Math 300 has a final exam scheduled for Friday, May 11, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM.  It will be a two-hour, comprehensive exam having the weight of two hour exams.  University regulations require that all students in this class take the final at this time.

Please be sure to bring a straight-edge and a compass to the exam.

In your review you should examine

There will be at least one and possibly two ruler and compass constructions on the exam.

Since the last hour exam we have discovered more about hyperbolic geometry, including the three models for hyperbolic geometry.  We have explored the Poincaré model to the extent of looking at the basics of the model and of verifying Incidence Axiom 1.  To that end, we have looked at inversions of a circle and seen how to construct a p-line through two distinct points in the  Poincaré model.  In particular, be able to

• Constructions:
• Construct the pole of a chord
• Construct the inverse of a point
• Construct the p-line through two distinct points in the Poincarė Disk Model (thus verifying IA 1 for this interpretation)
• Interpretations and models
• Be able to remind me what interpretations and models are.
• Be able to give details and draw pictures in the Beltrami-Klein and Poincarė Disk models.
• The MetaMathematical theorem
• Be able to say how models can be used to prove the MetaMathematical Theorem.
• Be able to say what the MetaMathematical Theorem means for the independence of the Parallel Axiom.

You should expect more questions of an essay and/or historical nature than on earlier exams.
