Math 300Second Hour Exam Review
Disclaimer: I have attempted to be comprehensive in the
following, but important items may have been omitted by mistake. If
you see such an omission, please let me know, but you are responsible
for all of the lecture material to date.
The second hour exam for Math 300 will be held on Friday,
March 28, and will cover material from the axioms of betweeness through the
axioms of congruence. I will provide the axioms so far, but you are responsible for the rest.
- Definitions:
- Be able to define the terms that appear in the covered material
(formal definitions).
- Be able to define the terms that we have encountered so far.
- Proofs
- Be able to construct proofs for fairly straightforward
statements (i.e., there are some of the homework problems that
I will not give you on an exam). Be able to justify the steps
in a proof. A review of homework problems would be a good
review for this part.
- Be prepared for a brief (5 pts.) historical question such as that
which appeared on the first hour exam.
- Be prepared for a brief essay question (that is, a question requiring a
bit of writing)
- A straight edge and compass will not be required for this exam,
but will be required for all following exams.
Please let me know if there are any questions. Many thanks!
