Exam 2 Review
Disclaimer: I have attempted to
be comprehensive in the following, but important items may have been omitted by mistake.
If you see such an omission, please let me know, but you are responsible
for all of the lecture material to date.
The second hour exam for Math 280 will be held on
Friday, October 23, and will cover
section 10.6 through section 12.1 (skipping section 11.6) of the textbook.
In particular, be prepared to:
- Be able to identify and roughly sketch quadric surfaces.
- Be able to differentiate and integrate vector functions
- Be able
to calculate arc length.
- Be able to define curvature and torsion, and to calculate the Frenet frame
of a vector function. The table on Page 693 is particularly useful for
review.
- Be able to define and calculate curvature and define (but not calculate)
torsion.
- Be able to give definitions of interior points, boundary points, open sets,
closed sets, and bounded sets.
- Be able generally to solve problems such as appear in the homework
assignments, including problems in the current homework assignment
(assignment #6)
