Exam 1 Review
Disclaimer: I have attempted to be comprehensive in the
following, but important items may have been omitted by mistake. If
you see such an omission, please let me know, but you are responsible
for all of the lecture material to date.
The first hour exam for Math 280 will be held on Friday, September 25, and
will cover section 10.1 through section 10.5 of the textbook. In particular, be prepared
to:
- Calculate the distance between points, between points and lines, and
between points and planes..
- Know definitions (including, but not limited to, vectors, dot product,
cross product, box product, torque)
- Be able to calculate with vectors using vector algebra, dot
product, cross product, box product, and the vector projection of one vector
onto another.
- Be able to find and use vector equations for lines and parametric
equations for lines, including the parameterization of a line segment..
- Be able to find and use the equations for a plane, the lines of
intersection of two planes, and the angles between two planes.
- Be able generally to solve problems such as appear in the homework
assignments, including problems in the current homework assignment
(assignment #3)
