Math 210
Exam #3 review
Caveat: Although I try to be comprehensive in these exam reviews,
please understand that you are responsible for the material covered since the
last exam. If you notice something that I have missed, please do let me
know.
The third hour exam will be Friday, November 14, and will cover
sections 3.8 - 5.2 (skipping 4.5). In your review look over assigned
problems, definitions, and biographical essays. In particular, be able to
- Calculate with matrices (3.8), including
zero-one matrices
- Construct proofs using mathematical
induction
- Construct recursive definitions and simple
recursive functions (using any standard language or psuedocode).
- State and use the recursive definition of
Fibonacci numbers
- Count (multiplication and addition
principles)
- State and use the pigeonhole principles
- As always, be prepared to say something
about the mathematicians and computer scientists who have contributed to the
material studied for this test.
