Exam #3 review

Caveat:  Although I try to be comprehensive in these exam reviews, please understand that you are responsible for the material covered since the last exam.  If you notice something that I have missed, please do let me know.

The third hour exam will be Friday, November 10, and will cover sections 5.1 - 5.4 (skipping 5.5 and 5.6), through 6.3.  In your review look over assigned problems, definitions, and biographical essays.  In particular, be able to

• To count (multiplication and addition principles)
• To state and use the pigeonhole principles
• To define and use permutations and combinations (including the binomial theorem)
• To state the basics of probability theory and use these principles to solve problems.
• To state and use Bayes' Theorem
