Exam 1 Review
Disclaimer: I have attempted to be comprehensive in the
following, but important items may have been omitted by mistake. If
you see such an omission, please let me know, but you are responsible
for all of the lecture material to date.
The first hour exam for Math 180 will be held on Friday, September 22, and
will cover through section 2.2 of the textbook. In particular, be prepared
to:
- Know the basic functions (including inverse functions) and how to use
them.
- Know definitions (including, but not limited to, functions, composition,
inverses, limits (informally).
- Be able to calculate the sum, difference, product, and composition of
functions.
- Be able to find inverses of simple functions and be able to use inverse
functions (notably exponential, logarithmic, and inverse trig functions) to
solve problems.
- Be able generally to solve problems such as appear in the homework
assignments.
