Exam #3 review:
Disclaimer: I have attempted to be comprehensive in the following,
but important items may have been omitted by mistake. If you see such
an omission, please let me know, but you are responsible for all of
the lecture material to date.
The third hour exam will be on Wednesday, April 27, and will cover:
- Date: Chapters 4, 6, 11, 12
- Sunderraman, chapter 2, 4
- Forms and reports (to the extent described below)
- Bottom-up design
Material
- SQL
- Be able to use the advanced features of SQL, including subqueries, tuple
variables, exists/not exists, relational algebra operations, functions, group by and having.
- Bottom-up design:
- Be able to describe in detail how bottom-up design works (the step-by-step process discussed in class and in the course notes)
- Be able to apply this process to a simple form.
- Be able to describe in very general terms how a form or a report is created (you do not need to know individual keystrokes). In particular, say what a trigger is (for example, when using a button)
- Relational databases work in tables, programs work a record at a time. How does
PL/SQL get around this problem? (This will be the only sort of question
on PL/SQL).
