Final Exam Review

The final exam for CSci 261 (meets 9:00 Noon MWThF) is scheduled for 8:00 AM Thursday, Dec. 19. It will be an in-class comprehensive exam.

In your review, review

• Previous exam reviews (including notes on what will be coming on future exams - check the current copies of these documents)
• Previous exams
• Homework
• Assigned reading.  We have covered Chapters 1 - 10, excluding chapter 9.
• Be able to write code

In addition to these, we have covered the following topics since the last exam:

• Built-in Java data structures (including some we've met before), including:
• Vector
• Stack
• ArrayList
• LinkedList
• TreeMap
• HashSet/HashMap
• Hashing.
• Be able to explain what hashing is (open address hashing and buckets)
• Be able to compute a hash value using quotient remainder hashing

Finally, look for definitions and essay questions which tie together the material in the course.

The above should not necessarily be viewed as possible exam questions (although some of them may be), but rather as notes to guide you in your review of the material.  In particular, class discussion on any of these should not be considered as model answers to any question that can be memorized and then produced on the exam.  These notes are guides only.
